Usa Battleship
After entering service, USS Massachusetts—the third South Dakota-class battleship—was sent to support the landing of troops in North Africa. In 1943, she was transferred to the Pacific Ocean, where she accompanied a group of aircraft carriers. The battleship participated in the Gilbert and Marshall Islands campaign, the Philippines campaign, and the assault on Okinawa. The ship has survived to this day as a museum and is located in Fall River, Massachusetts.
