Editorial standards and corrections

Tactics With Tom is an independent fan project by Tom. Its job is to turn official World of Warships announcements into clear, useful player context without pretending to be the publisher.

What is original here

Release versions, dates, ship statistics, and announced changes come from identified official sources. Tactics With Tom adds the selection, organisation, plain-language briefing, tactical context, and explanation of what a change may mean in battle. Full publisher articles are not republished; readers are linked to the original wording.

A source-only release page stays out of search results until it contains a substantive briefing and useful player-facing highlights. Database pages explain their source and limitations, and unfinished or empty community sections are kept outside advertising and search indexing.

Sources and status labels

  • Live: an official release or live-service notice confirms the change.
  • In development: an official developer or test post describes work that can still change.
  • Interpretation: tactical impact or likely player behaviour is Tactics With Tom analysis, not a claim from Wargaming.

Every update briefing retains direct links to the official material used. When two official sources conflict, the newest clear statement controls and the uncertainty is called out.

Automation and human responsibility

Automated tools may check official feeds, extract structured facts, group posts by game version, and prepare draft summaries. Automation does not make a source official and is not used to invent statistics. The site validates source domains and data structure, preserves the source links, and withholds incomplete release pages from indexing.

Tom remains responsible for what is published. High-impact claims should be checked against the linked source, and the official article always takes priority over this site's summary.

Corrections

If an official announcement changes, the briefing should be updated without disguising development information as live. Material errors are corrected as soon as they are verified. Send a correction through the contact page with the page URL, the disputed statement, and a reliable source. Do not send passwords or private account information.

Commercial independence

Advertising never changes a factual conclusion, a ship recommendation, or the order of editorial coverage. Paid promotion or affiliate relationships will be labelled next to the relevant content. No advertiser currently receives editorial approval rights, and advertising is kept separate from navigation and update cards.

Community material and rights

Submitted replays, builds, and suggestions are reviewed before editorial use. Spam, copied work, abuse, prohibited content, and rights violations may be removed. For a copyright or attribution concern, use the contact page and identify the work, the page, and the requested correction or removal.
