Sovetskaya Rossiya was the fourth ship of the Sovetsky Soyuz-class battleships, a class intended to form the core of a new Soviet battlefleet. The ship herself was laid down at Molotovsk in Northern Russia. Following the German invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, resources and industrial capacity were redirected away from battleship construction toward more immediate wartime requirements. As a result, by the end of the war, Sovetskaya Rossiya was just 5% complete. She was ultimately ordered scrapped in March 1947.
