The new destroyers received 130 mm guns, and the standard displacement was increased to 1,455 tons. With the outbreak of World War II, the lead ship of the Bourrasque class participated in search and convoy operations. Bourrasque was destroyed on May 30, 1940, during the evacuation of troops from Dunkirk.
